EPA’s Design for the Environment (DfE) Program developed this tool to help collision repair businesses and career/technical schools evaluate current practices and technologies and identify areas where improvements can be made to protect workers and students from exposure to isocyanates and other hazardous air pollutants during refinish operations.

The DfE Best Practices Outreach Kit, developed for site visits and train-the-trainer workshops, serves as an excellent resource for shops. The Kit contains best practices checklists for each auto refinish activity, fact sheets, case studies, health and safety information, lists of manufacturers and suppliers of equipment, and other useful information for shop owners and technicians.
