ASE Technician Awards

Last week yours truly had the opportunity to attend the annual National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) annual meeting. The highlight of the event was undoubtedly the Awards dinner on Wednesday night, where 47 Technicians and Instructors from around the country were honored based upon their top scores on ASE tests, on-the-job excellence, as well as their community service.

I had the pleasure of getting to meet some of the Award winners — including Erich Beer from Formula Automotive as well as Brad Greer from SpeeDee Oil Change & Tune-Up. Erich & Brad are true role models for Technicians, displaying genuine dedication to their craft, interested in ongoing learning and training while maintaining humility and core family values.

It is my honor to say that I first became ASE certified in 1991, and I’ve been fortunate to maintain my status (and add a few more areas of expertise) in the years since. With Thanksgiving upon us this week, I look back and feel eternally grateful to those who supported me when I was an up-and-coming technician.  ASE is a first-class organization, and it is an honor and a genuine privilege to be associated with such a fine group. Congrats to all of the very-deserving Award winners.
